The course is inspired by the traditional old English style heathland courses in the surrey area outside of London such as Wentworth, Sunningdale, Walton Heath and The Berkshire. Creating Carya Golf Course has involved planting of close to 1 million heather plants to strengthen the heathland environment already existing. Carya Golf Club is open to golf lovers of any age and skill level. The Course is designed to challenge the best players, but at the same time be a throughly enjoyable experience for people at all levels. Carya adds a new concept and raises the bar even greater to the already popular and high standards of golf in Belek.
Needless to say, designer Peter Thomson is one of the greatest professional golfers of all time. During a playing career that spanned fi ve decades, he won more than 100 tournaments worldwide. Born in Australia in 1929, Peter Thomson is best known for his remarkable record in The British Open Championship.
Many of the finest courses in the region – from that era, to the great new developments of today – have been designed by Peter Thomson and his golf course design company. Carya Golf Club is Thomson Perrett & Lobb’s first golf course in Turkey and its unique design is inspired by the classic heathland golf courses on which Peter Thomson enjoyed much success during the 1950s and 1960s.
Probably it is also worth to mention that Carya Golf Course is shown among Europe’s TOP100 by the Golf World magazine in 2011.
